A Senate Democrat said Wednesday that the NRA’s position on gun control is “crazy” and contributes to terrorism.
“The National Rife Association does not want potential terrorists to be denied purchasing guns in the United States,” said Sen. Edward Markey, D. Mass., during a series of Democratic speeches calling for legislative action on guns. Democrats made the push just days after the Orlando shooting, which killed 49 people early Sunday.
Sen. Markey said that the NRA “controls the agenda of the United States Senate” and “does not want a vote, they don’t want to debate on this issue.”
Markey said he is supporting “no fly, no buy” gun control legislation to prevent suspected terrorists who are denied access to airports from “walking across the street into a gun shop and buying an assault weapon that they can then use to kill people.”
