In a recent poll, a majority of President Joe Biden’s supporters said they want to replace him and his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, on the 2024 ballot, The Hill reported.

The Pew Research report published Wednesday revealed that 62% of Biden supporters are inclined to swap out both candidates, whereas just 35% of Trump supporters share a similar sentiment.

Conversely, 27% of Trump voters and 4% of Biden supporters indicated they would retain both candidates. Approximately one-third of backers for each candidate expressed a preference to keep only their chosen candidate and replace the other.

Despite both Biden and Trump securing the necessary delegates to be their parties’ presumptive presidential nominees, the Pew Research findings underscore growing voter frustration regarding the prospect of a Biden-Trump rematch in 2024.

This sentiment is particularly pronounced among younger voters, with 73% of Biden supporters aged 18-49 expressing a desire to replace both candidates, compared to 38% of younger Trump supporters.

Among older Biden supporters, approximately half, 53%, share this sentiment.

Older Trump backers, 41%, are more inclined than younger ones, 33%, to retain Trump while replacing Biden.

Moreover, the report indicates a diminishing sense of urgency among voters regarding the outcome of the 2024 presidential race compared to previous election cycles.

Only 70% of Trump and Biden supporters now believe that the race truly matters, a decline from 80% of Trump supporters and 77% of Biden supporters in the 2020 cycle.

These findings stem from a Pew Research American Trends Panel conducted from April 8-14 among 8,709 respondents, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
