Baltimore Man receives Multiple mail-in ballots

A Baltimore man who takes his civic duty seriously is speaking out after receiving multiple mail-in ballots addressed to family members who are either deceased or no longer residing at his home address.

Van Daniels told a local news station that when the initial ballot mailing went out, he received five extra ballots for relatives who should not have been sent vote-by-mail packets to his address.

“When it first came in the mail, I said ‘OK, they must not have been notified’ about the changes,” Daniels explained. He says he did what he felt was the right thing and returned those extra ballots to sender.

However, weeks later, those same ballots reappeared in Daniels’ mailbox, each envelope marked with “ANK” – postal codes indicating an “addressee not known” at that address.

“I’m frustrated, and I wanted to bring this to your attention,” Daniels told the reporter. While he still has faith in the overall electoral process, the Baltimore resident is seeking answers about this unsettling lapse.

When the local news station reached out, the Baltimore City Board of Elections stated they never received the returned ballots from Daniels. A spokesperson said “Whenever we receive mail back from a voter with specific wording, confirmation mailers are sent out to verify the information is correct…”

But in this case, it seems bureaucratic errors allowed those ballots to simply get re-circulated to the same address instead of being properly processed.

Van Daniels prides himself on participating in every election and wants everyone’s voice to be heard through legitimate votes. “I vote every year…from city council all the way to president,” he stated.

With less than two weeks until the primary election day, Daniels and others are closely watching whether the Board of Elections can resolve lingering issues like this one.
