Robbery Victim Demands Tighter Security at Horseshoe Casino Garages

A man who was robbed at gunpoint in the parking garage of the Horseshoe Casino is speaking out to FOX45 News, imploring the establishment to bolster security measures in these vulnerable areas. The victim, identified only as Justin, recounts the harrowing ordeal that left him fearing for his life.

“What I remember hearing is, ‘give me everything…put your hands up,’” Justin says, his voice laced with trauma. “I was going into the stairwell, I heard a bit of noise coming from behind me and before I knew it, I had two guns pointed at my face.”

The armed robbery unfolded around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning, as Justin made his way from his car on the fourth floor of the casino’s garage. Two masked assailants wearing hoodies emerged from the shadows, firearms in hand, demanding Justin surrender his possessions.

Faced with the grave threat of violence, Justin complied. “My life isn’t worth my keys, my wallet and watch,” he says, the gravity of the situation evident. “The fear is, I could’ve died. I could’ve lost my life.”

While the incident occurred on private property, robberies have become a pressing concern across Baltimore. According to recent police data cited by FOX45 News, robberies in the city have surged by 15% compared to the same period last year.

The issue of quality-of-life crimes has taken center stage in Baltimore’s mayoral race, with candidate and former mayor Sheila Dixon prioritizing the matter as her key opponent, incumbent Mayor Brandon Scott, continues to emphasize the overall decline in violent crime rates.

Reflecting on his ordeal, Justin expresses dismay over the apparent lack of security presence in the casino’s parking facilities. “They’re an establishment that should have, at the bare minimum, patrolling security,” he asserts. “They’re only inside, they’ll check your ID and then you see security walking around. But the areas of real terror potentially are in the garages.”

Police Commissioner Richard Worley, in remarks cited by FOX45 News, stated that authorities are collaborating with the casino, which may possess surveillance footage crucial to identifying and apprehending the suspects.

As the traumatized victim’s account underscores, the need for enhanced security measures in the Horseshoe Casino’s parking garages has taken on heightened urgency in the wake of this brazen armed robbery.
