Tragedy Strikes at Mondawmin Mall as 7-Year-Old Girl Is Shot

“As soon as I stood up, boom, one gunshot went off, and everybody just started rushing towards the hallway and all the other exits down there. People falling over and whatnot,” said one man who ran toward the gunfire but wished to remain anonymous due to safety. “I was in the mindset of not looking for confrontation, or trying to be a hero, it was the mindset of how can I assist anybody that needs help.”

The man said he ran toward the young girl, who he saw her lying on her back and applied pressure to her stomach area, where the bullet wound was.

“She was a real trooper and it’s crazy because I don’t think I would be able to do what she did, she did not shed a single tear the whole time,” the man said.

There is no suspect in custody.

“I can tell you, we will catch him. Our detectives are working extremely hard to get photos out, so he might as well just give himself up now because we are going to come and find you, and hopefully, we can find you today,” Baltimore police Commissioner Richard Worley said.
