Yet another horrific crime has been committed by an illegal immigrant who should never have been in this country. Jonathan Estuardo Ruano Garcia, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was arrested for raping an 11-year-old girl in Utah, according to police records.

This savage assault is unfortunately nothing new. Illegal immigrants commit a vastly disproportionate amount of violent crime and sex crimes while leftist sanctuary jurisdictions tie the hands of law enforcement.

Ruano Garcia is just the latest in a seemingly endless string of illegal immigrant criminals set loose on the American public by open borders policies. He was found with a forged social security card, making him guilty of multiple felonies including child rape, enticing a minor, and forgery.

Our lax immigration enforcement and loopholes in the law are directly enabling these heinous crimes. Ruano Garcia should have been deported after illegally entering the country. Instead, liberal politicians care more about criminal illegal immigrants than law-abiding American citizens.

It’s clear our immigration system desperately needs reform to crack down on illegal entry, deport illegal aliens who commit crimes, and end dangerous sanctuary city policies. We need immigration policies that put American citizens and legal residents first, not foreigners who disrespect our laws.

If we had taken a hard line on illegal immigration from the start, this young girl would have been spared a traumatic assault that could scar her for life. How many more innocent lives will be devastated before Democrat leaders stop protecting illegal immigrants at all costs? The blood is on their hands.
