MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. – The heinous shooting that left an innocent 2-year-old dead is yet another tragic consequence of the radical left’s obsession with sanctuary city policies. The fifth suspect arrested, an illegal alien, should have been deported long ago.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Nilson Granados-Trejo had been ordered deported in 2022 but was released twice by Montgomery County officials catering to illegals. This is business as usual for the county, which has failed to honor 119 ICE detainer requests just this year.
When will these open borders extremists learn? Sanctuary cities endanger law-abiding citizens by sheltering dangerous criminals from deportation. This misguided compassion claimed the life of young Jeremy Poou-Caceres, whose only crime was being in the wrong place as gangs fought over drug territory.
His mother’s wound will heal, but her baby is lost forever thanks to progressive negligence. Montgomery County has blood on its hands. The tragic consequences of its radical immigration agenda are clear.
Several other suspects have been arrested, but two more are still at large. They must be found and charged for their heinous acts. Those who enable their presence through sanctuary stunts should also be held accountable.
Conservatives have warned about the dangers of refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Tragically, little Jeremy has proven us right once again. Open borders kill. It is time to restore law, order, and common sense before more innocents are sacrificed on the altar of progressive politics.
