Hochul: New York ‘Absolutely Overwhelmed’ By Illegals, ‘We Need A Break.’ It’s Republicans’ Fault.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul commented on the influx of migrants to her state during an interview on MSNBC on Tuesday, February 21, 2024. Hochul stated that New York has seen a large number of migrants arrive in recent months, putting a strain on resources.

The governor said she believes bipartisan solutions in Congress are possible with the right representatives. Hochul called on the 10 Republican members of Congress from New York to work with House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring immigration legislation to a vote that they could support.

Hochul claimed the border crisis was created by Congressional Republicans and they will have to address the issue heading into the November 2024 elections. She said New York has received over 175,000 migrants seeking better lives and jobs, but city resources are overwhelmed.

The governor said she is working to find employment for the new arrivals but help is needed at the border in the meantime. Hochul said if New York Republicans don’t take action on immigration, it will become a key issue used against them in the upcoming election. She stated they are responsible for the current situation and must work to resolve it.
