New York Times Publisher Says White House ‘Extremely Upset’ With Coverage Of Biden

The New York Times is facing intense backlash from the Biden White House over its unflattering coverage of the president’s advanced age and dismal approval ratings.

In an interview, NYT publisher A.G. Sulzberger defiantly declared the paper will continue exposing Biden’s unpopularity and senior status, despite anger from the administration.

Sulzberger argued the NYT has a responsibility to highlight Biden’s historic inadequacy as president at 81 years old. But the White House views such reporting as unfair attacks rather than basic facts.

Recent NYT headlines have blared about Biden being a “drag” on Democrats and put his age and mental decline “back at the center” of 2024. This reporting has clearly rattled Team Biden.

Former NYT public editor Margaret Sullivan even urged editors to lay off Biden’s age. The White House also ripped the media’s coverage of the special counsel’s report showing Biden’s memory issues.

But Sulzberger refused to back down, insisting the NYT has an obligation to cover Biden’s weaknesses, no matter how many critical Trump stories they publish.

In reality, the NYT has often minimized Biden’s flaws while maximizing negative Trump coverage. Few expect any real shift in the paper’s partisan liberal bias.

This thin-skinned reaction from the White House shows the administration’s sensitivity about Biden’s unfitness for office. The NYT is right to ignore attempts to suppress reporting on the president’s obvious limitations.

If Biden doesn’t want relentless coverage of his shortcomings, he should consider retiring rather than running again. Attacking the messenger won’t change the harsh reality of this failed presidency.
