Father of Local Sailor Killed: ‘He was My Everything’

HALETHORPE, Md. (WBFF) – The father of a local sailor killed off the coast of Japan will travel to Delaware to retrieve his son’s body Tuesday.
Personnel Specialist First Class Xavier Martin, 24, of Halethorpe was one of seven sailors who died when their destroyer collided with a container ship.
Fox 45 sat down with Xavier’s father Monday.
“He was everything to me,” said Darrold Martin, Xavier’s father. “I could never have a better child. He was an American. He was a patriot. I’m proud.”
Darrold Martin said Xavier was his only child and the two had an incredibly strong bond.
