‘Public Enemy No. 1’ Wanted in Attack on 73-Year-Old is Captured

Police announced Wednesday night that they have arrested the teenager wanted in the fatal stabbing of a 73-year-old man in Southeast Baltimore.

Christopher Straham, 19, was taken into custody in the 3100 block of Orleans St. Police said earlier this week that he faces first-degree murder charges in the Dec. 2 attack near Pulaski Highway and Highland Avenue and named him their latest “Public Enemy No. 1.”

Straham was identified by a community tip after police released surveillance video, police said. Police have not released the name of the victim, whom they believe was homeless. Surveillance video showed the victim trying to fight off the attack with his cane.

Straham also faces charges of second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, theft and possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure.
