A man is in critical condition after being shot by police Tuesday night during a traffic stop in West Baltimore.
An officer stopped a gold BMW station wagon at about 10:38 p.m. in the 1000 block of N. Monroe St., said police spokesman T.J. Smith. The officer called for backup. As the officers approached the car from opposite sides, one asked the driver to exit the car, Smith said. The other officer saw that the driver had a gun in his hand, Smith said.
