Former Maryland Senator Oaks Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Prison for Corruption Charges

Former Maryland Sen. Nathaniel T. Oaks on Tuesday was sentenced to 3½ years in federal prison after pleading guilty to corruption charges.

U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett also ordered Oaks to pay a $30,000 fine, and his prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. The lawmaker pleaded guilty in March to accepting bribes from an undercover FBI informant.
