ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WBFF) – Howard County officials, state officials and even Vice President Mike Pence moved to recognize the efforts of Maryland Guardsman Sgt. Eddison Hermond, the 39-year-old Severn resident who drowned after trying to help in the Ellicott City flooding Sunday.
“Make no doubt about it, Mr. Hermond is a hero who put the lives of others before his own,” said County Executive Allan Kittleman in a news conference Tuesday evening.
He said Howard County will be “forever grateful to him.”
