Fear of Violence as String of Burglaries Target High Income Lutherville and Cockeysville Homes

A rash of burglaries in northwest Baltimore County have all been connected to the same thieves. Police said the burglars been targeting large homes since October.

“We heard a series of loud bangs beneath and, the minute one of our alarm sensors indicated it had been opened, immediately called 911,” said one of the victimized homeowners.

The homeowner did not want to be identified, but said it happened Friday evening. He and his daughter barricaded themselves upstairs in their home while someone tried to break in downstairs. He said it happened so fast that they were more shocked than scared.

“Unbelievably angry. Actually, you feel helpless, right, because you don’t know if someone’s in your house or not. You’re being told not to move. It’s dark down there, it’s dark where you are and you have absolutely no clue what’s happening,” he said.

He’s just one of 18 homeowners in the Lutherville-Cockeysville area of Baltimore County who have been burglarized since October.
