SCARY STORM: Flash Flooding Prompts Rescue, Closes Roads in Northwest Baltimore County

BALTIMORE (WBFF) – A storm cell that stalled over the Reisterstown/Owings Mills area late Monday afternoon caused flash flooding and a swift-water rescue.

About 4 inches of rain fell within three hours over the area.

Reisterstown Road was shut down in several areas, notably at the intersections of High Falcon Drive, Hammershire and Chartley Drive, as residents’ videos showed waters rising quickly.

Crews were dispatched to a swift-water rescue at 3:46 p.m. at Reisterstown Road in the Hammershire area, where two vehicles were originally reported trapped.

The driver of one vehicle escaped without emergency help, while the fire and EMS department had to assist two people in a second vehicle, reported the fire department.
