MIDDLE RIVER — Sgt. Eric Houck was remembered by his father Sunday as a loyal friend and good dad.
“Father’s Day for me, you know, it’s going to be different,” Mike Houck said. “He’ll always be with me, but it’s just not going to be the same, you know.”
Sgt. Eric Houck was killed June 10 in Afghanistan when an Afghan soldier opened fire on U.S. troops he was serving alongside.

“(Eric) knew how to take care of a squad. He made sure everyone was prepared. But, yet, his comrade in arms raises his weapon and kills him and two other men,” Mike Houck said.
