Police: 60% of Gun Offenders in Last 18 Months Received Suspended Sentence

Baltimore Police on Thursday released a video of the assault and robbery last week of an assistant city health commissioner who oversees anti-violence initiatives.

On June 9 police went to the intersection of Baltimore Street and Commerce Street for a report of an assault and found Greg Sileo, 33. Sileo told officers a group of juveniles assaulted him and took two cellphones, police said.

Sileo was treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released.

“I think we need to look into what is causing people to engage in this kind of behavior,” Sileo said Saturday. “A couple of young guys stealing my cellphones and ending up in jail doesn’t seem to be worth it.”
