KOPP CRITICIZES HOGAN ON SCHOOL START: Gov. Larry Hogan’s executive order to start school after Labor Day continues to roil Maryland politics, reversing traditional partisan roles and on Wednesday exposing a new vein of controversy, reports Erin Cox in the Sun. Kopp turned to Hogan on Wednesday morning and flatly called the move an “abuse of executive power.”

Kopp said she did not initially plan to mention Hogan’s action, which has caused a major firestorm, but felt compelled to address it after Franchot, a strong advocate for the later school start, praised Hogan from the dais for signing the order last week, Ovetta Wiggins of the Post reports.
