Hogan to Meet With Black Caucus to Discuss Marijuana

Leaders of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland plan to meet with Gov. Larry Hogan on Thursday, and they’ll talk about diversity in the state’s new medical cannabis program.

The meeting was scheduled before criticism mounted about the companies that were granted preliminary licenses this month to grow and process medical cannabis.

Del. Cheryl D. Glenn, chairwoman of the black caucus, has said she plans to ask the governor to intervene in the licensing process to ensure more diversity among the companies selected. The governor’s office has said that’s not possible.

The state’s medical cannabis commission issued 15 preliminary licenses for growing cannabis and 15 preliminary licenses for processing it into pills, oils and other products.
