Md. Delegate Pat McDonough Petitions for Marilyn Mosby’s Resignation

Maryland Delegate Pat McDonough is petitioning for the removal of Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, citing her handling of the Freddie Gray case.

McDonough is also calling for Mosby to drop all charges against the four remaining police officers awaiting trial in the death of Freddie Gray.

The petition comes after five of the six officers charged with Gray’s death filed a lawsuit against Mosby for defamation and other charges stemming from her press conference on May 1, 2015.

During that press conference, Mosby announced charges against Sgt. Alicia White, Lt. Brian Rice and officers William Porter, Edward Nero, Garrett Miller and Caesar Goodson.

Goodson, who was acquitted of all charges on June 23, is the only officer charged who hasn’t filed a lawsuit against Mosby.

The four remaining Baltimore Police officers facing charges for the death of Freddie Gray – White Rice, Porter and Miller – have filed motions in Baltimore City Circuit Court, asking for their cases to be dismissed. If the charges are not dismissed, Rice will be the next to appear in court on July 5 for his pre-trial hearing.
