Senator Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trump over his Mexican judge comments.
Hispanic Judge Gonzalo Curiel is the anti-Trump judge who had allowed a class action lawsuit to proceed against the GOP nominee. Curiel, who was nominated by Barack Obama, awarded scholarships to illegal aliensin 2014. NBC News reported:
NBC: Donald Trump’s remarks about Judge Curiel, are his concerns legitimate?
Cruz: Of course it’s inappropriate to be attacking a federal judge’s race or ethnicity. You’re going to have ask Donald to explain the reason he says the things he does. I’m not going to try to do so.
NBC: Ben Sasse said that what Donald Trump said about the judge is pure definition of racism. Is Donald Trump a racist?
Cruz: As I said, it is obviously inappropriate to attack a judge’s race or ethnicity. Beyond that, you’re going to have to ask Donald.
NBC: (As Cruz walks away): Last question — Senator, can you fathom though still at this point supporting Donald Trump in November?
