5 Shot During Baltimore Cookout; Suspect Sought & 2 Victims Arrested

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Memorial Day cookout turned tragic in north Baltimore: five people shot in a drive-by shooting! Now people are trying to hunt down the gunman.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the search.

Investigators say one of those victims was treated and released at the hospital—and, moments later, was found in the same area with a loaded handgun.

They’d gathered on the sidewalk for a holiday cookout. Instead, people were left running for their lives.

“I could hear a whole bunch of hollering, like `Call the police! Call the police!’” said one neighbor.

Investigators say someone drove up and opened fire at a home on E. 43rd Street, sending bullets flying into five people just after three p.m. Monday afternoon. Witnesses say they heard at least half a dozen gunshots.
