Clinton Henchman, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe Under Investigation Over Campaign Donations

Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe is under investigation by the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department for as much as $160,000 in contributions from a Chinese businessman to his 2013 campaign, according to news reports.

The inquiry — the second federal investigation of two consecutive Virginia governors — centers on whether the donations from Wang Wenliang violated the law, CNN reports.

The donations by Wang, 61, were made through his U.S. companies, according to CNN. He owns the China Rilin Construction Group, which holds a majority stake in the Dadong Port Group, a Chinese port near North Korea, according to Forbes magazine.
