House Republicans say Speaker Paul Ryan’s Thursday morning visit with Donald Trump is not enough, and they want their own meeting with the de facto GOP nominee to help assuage their fears about his lack of commitment to party principles.
Republicans stood up in a private House Republican Conference meeting on Wednesday to demand their leadership send an invitation to Trump that he had better not refuse. Trump will meet with House and Senate GOP leaders Thursday, but the rank and file want to hear from Trump in person, and soon.
