Baltimore Police Officers Won’t Have to Pay Damages Personally in Case Pitting Union Against the City

Baltimore City Solicitor Andre Davis said Friday that he has decided taxpayers should cover the damages that five officers faced paying personally after a jury concluded they acted with malice in a 2013 arrest.

In August, a jury awarded $40,000 in punitive damages against the officers. Davis had earlier this week said the city is not required to cover that award but that he was reviewing the case.
