Sanctions against Texas judge who said citizens could leave U.S. – NY Daily News
Texas judge who told new citizens to leave U.S. if they don’t like Donald Trump suspended from overseeing citizenship ceremonies
Judge Primomo made the controversial comments while presiding over a ceremony in San Antonio on Thursday.
“I can assure you that whether you voted for him or you did not vote for him, if you are a citizen of the United States, he is your president. He will be your president, and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country,” the judge said, according to KENS.

Primomo later told the station and the Express-News that he meant his words to be unifying and respectful of the office of the president, and not political. He said that he did not vote for Trump for president.
“I wasn’t trying to say anything for or against Donald Trump,” he told the Express-News. “I was just trying to say something hopeful and unifying, and unfortunately it was taken out of context.”
Primomo was critical at the ceremony of protesters who carried placards saying, “He’s not my president,” according to KENS, and said he hated the actions of Colin Kaepernick and other pro athletes who kneel during the playing of the national anthem.
The son of German and Italian immigrants, Primomo has been a magistrate judge since 1988.
